  1. Call to Order
  2. Declaration of a Quorum – Six commissioners were present.
  3. Meeting Participation Statement
  4. Recording Statement – As required by the Open Meeting Law, we are informing you that the Town will be video and audio taping as well as broadcasting this public meeting. In addition, if anyone else intends to either video or audio tape this meeting, they are required to inform the Chair.

 

  1. Public Comment – Mary Berzinis
    1. An email was sent to players and PSA reminding them of the guidelines on the location of carts. A question arose regarding the availability and how to get handicap flags when needed.
    2. Kudos were offered to the fall cup team members who are moving on to the championship.

 

  1. Election of Clerk
    1. The expectations and responsibilities of the role of Clerk were reviewed. Anne O’Connell was nominated and elected.

 

  1. Warrant Articles – Jay Packett
    1. The Capital Requests were reviewed as well as the process that is entailed to put in a request. The back deck and handicap ramp are currently being quoted. A capital planning meeting is being held on September 27th.
    2. There is a new invoice processing software program that the Golf Department will need to pay a portion of the purchase and upkeep. The initial payout is slightly over $12,000 and yearly upkeep is approximately $6000.
    3. Suggestions on the wording for the upcoming Capital requests were discussed.

 

  1. Golf Commission Handbook – Anne O’Connell
    1. There was discussion regarding the wording of handbook item number 9 and whether items 9 and 10 should be separated or combined. Anne will review the notes from the Town Manager and combine them with what was discussed today.

 

  1. Offseason Memberships – Jay Packett
    1. A draft of the offseason membership application for Brewster residents was distributed. The recommendation is to have off-season membership from 10/1/24 until 3/31/25. A motion was made and approved.

 

  1. Volunteer Fair
    1. The Golf Commission was requested to attend the Brewster volunteer fair on 10/4/24. Jay Paggi and Andrea Johnson will represent the commission.

 

  1. Future agenda items and meetings 10.8.24
    1. The next meeting packet will include recent compliments that were given to the golf course.
    2. An initial discussion of rates and fees for the 2025 golf season will be included.

 

  1. Questions/Comments from liaisons/associations
  2. Matters not reasonably anticipated by the Chair.
    1. Andrea was informed that there is going to be a New England Public Golf Forum on October 29, 2024, sponsored by Mass Golf and National Links Trust.
    2. John Kissida has resigned from the Golf Commission as of 9.24.24
