Jeff Odell
Jim Ehrhart
Staff present: Mark O’Brien, Director of Operations
Others Present: Ginny O’Loughlin, Women’s 9-Hole Assn.
Association Reports:
Ginny O’Loughlin reported that the Thursday 9-Hole Association was rained out on May 3rd and that they have three new members.
Public Comment:
None
Friends of the Captains:
J. Odell reported the organization has raised over $4,000 and has paid off the patio chairs and tables. Also, one of the members that received the military service-connected disability discount donated $125 to the Friends.
Director of Operations Report (Mark O’Brien):
M. O’Brien presented the financials for April.
An AFP refund request for Peg Personette was approved. She will be refunded $675 ($750 less 3 back 9 plays at $25/each).
Todd Montanero received a credit of his 2010 non-resident fee to be used toward his 2011 AFP fee back in 2010. He was not able to play in 2011 or 2012 and requested a refund of the fee. This was denied as we cannot refund FY2010 money in FY2012.
The North American Pro Tour requested to hold a tournament at Captains on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, September 4, 5 & 6, 2012. They would have about 50 players playing first thing in the morning in threesomes. They requested a green fee rate of $30 per player. This request was approved.
M. O’Brien reported that the parking lot light project contract has been awarded and will hopefully be completed by the end of June.
A question was asked about posting no alcohol on the course unless purchased form the Back 9 Café. M. O’Brien said that Antonella was going to get him the verbiage used on the signs at Cranberry Valley and he would have signs made up.
“Fun” tees were discussed. Cindy Bingham said she would mark off tee areas and make up score cards and then we would publicize that these tees are available. The yardage will be in the 3,800 yard range.
J. Odell reported that no headway has been made on directional signage to the course as the sign codes prohibit what we ideally would like to do. We may have to go to the Planning Board for a variance. Antonella and Nick will have to follow up on a sign for the Back 9 Café at the entrance as the sign codes restrict that also.
L. Arnold reported that there is not much new marketing wise. M. O’Brien will be soliciting vendors for proposals regarding promotional and marketing services.
Superintendent’s report
In Steve Mann’s absence there was no report.
J. Ehrhart made a motion, seconded by L. Arnold, to approve the minutes from April 3, 2012. Motion approved unanimously.
J. Ehrhart made a motion to adjourn, seconded by L. Arnold. Motion approved unanimously.
Kinks in the new tee time system were discussed. M. O’Brien reported that he is working with Chelsea to fix any issues.
Meeting adjourned at 4:57 p.m.
